This was shot on the North Shore of Oahu during the winter of 2005/6 it is Laurie Towner pumping through the wave of the winter. It was a wave that found it's way in between Backdoor and Off The Wall and seemed to fool all the water photographers and all the Surfers. It is very very rare to get a wave come through on the North Shore with no photographers heads sticking out of it. This wave set Laurie's career in motion as a charger soon after this he went on to catch the wave of the year at Shipstern's in Tazmania. It appeared as a full sequence in Surfer magazine April 2006 Hawaii issue.

This is image was taken in July 2007 on a trip to South Africa with Dane Reynolds and Yadin Nicol. This surf spot is right near were I grew up and never used to get this good when I was young. But I guess the crazy Cyclone that wrecked the coast earlier in the year did some good by dumping all this sand in my home town.
